A forest ecologist by training, Jutta Kill has been leading FERN's climate and forests campaign since 2000. Based on over two decades of experience with and analysis of intergovernmental initiatives to halt deforestation, FERN's work on forests and climate highlights why forest peoples' rights must be safeguarded by any climate agreement that hopes to reduce emissions from deforestation in a fair and effective way and why financing forest climate initiatives through carbon trading will be a bad deal for forests, forest peoples and the climate.
Every day our staff, working around the world, meet many fascinating people and visit many unique places. Indigenous forest peoples; local communities; directors, staff and workers from forest companies; wood processors; governments; NGOs; donors; the list goes on. All have fascinating lives and all share our passion for tropical forests.
Tropical Forest Trust's "In Conversation" Podcast aims to capture these peoples' stories, sharing their thoughts, aspirations and motivations with a broader audience.
The Forest Trust (TFT)
Established in 1999, The Forest Trust (formerly Tropical Forest Trust) is a non-profit international organisation seeking to address the problem of deforestation by working with companies and communities and help them trade Forest Responsible Products. TFT does that by working in supply chains to set up traceability systems and assist producers towards sustainable forest management. For further information, please visit: www.tft-forests.org/
